Ear exam

Follow below steps to perform the exam:

  1. Connect the stethoscope module.
  2. Instruct the patient to breathe deeply through the mouth during the exam.
  3. Place the stethoscope in the correct point and ensure the stethoscope’s membrane is fully applied to the body with its whole surface – the recording will start automatically after touching the skin.
  4. Wait for the recording to end automatically after 10 seconds.
  5. Click move forward (“>”) and place the stethoscope on the next point.

Find correct points where to place the stethoscope:

  • Points 1 and 2 – find the middle of the collarbone and place the stethoscope about 2 centimeters below the collarbone.
  • Points 3 and 4 – find the nipple and place the stethoscope about 3 cm above it; remember that in women, the nipples may be located lower than in men.
  • Points 5 and 6 – are located on the sides, (which is why you should raise your hand slightly). The points are located at the intersection of two lines: a vertical one in the middle of the armpit and a horizontal one on the line of the sternum.
  • Points 7 and 8 – below the shoulder line on both sides of the spine (do not place the membrane on the spine).
  • Points 9 and 10 – are located at the intersection of two lines: a vertical one next to the spine and a horizontal one at the height of the lower outline of the scapula (the most advanced point).
  • Points 11 and 12 – are just below the shoulder blade.

Avoid the most common mistakes:

  • Patient not breathing deep enough or breathing too deeply.
  • Putting the stethoscope in the wrong place, on bones or clothing.
  • Not waiting for the timeout to finish and moving the stethoscope.
  • Holding the device too tightly.
